The Centre for Food Technology and Research has achieved significant success in securing multiple grants to bolster its research and development efforts:
i. DAAD Scholarship Grant ($400,000): CEFTER BSU has been awarded the DAAD scholarship grant to fund the training of M.Sc and Ph.D candidates from African countries. This grant, part of the DAAD In-Country/In-Region Scholarship Program, selected CEFTER BSU among 74 applicants in Africa, supporting programs like PhD and MSc Food Chemistry.
ii. Seedings Laboratory Equipment Grant ($140,000): This grant has provided a full container load of laboratory equipment to the University, selected from Seedings Lab warehouses.
iii. EU Food and Nutrition Security Initiative (FaNSI) Project: CEFTER BSU jointly won this project with NRI, facilitating a fully funded Ph.D opportunity for staff at NRI.
iv. Joint Grant with Natural Resources Institute on Cassava-bag for Garri (CB4G) Processing – Nigeria Case Study ($35,000): This collaborative grant aims to enhance cassava processing techniques.
v. UNDP Research Grants:
Baseline Studies on Value Addition ($28,000)
Climate Change ($10,000)
vi. UNDP Innovation Grant:
Uni-Pod (Innovation Hub) Development ($1,000,000)
vii. World Bank Grants for Centres of Excellence ($13,000,000): CEFTER BSU has received a double World Bank grant to further strengthen its position as a Centre of Excellence.
These grants underscore CEFTER BSU's commitment to advancing food technology, research, and innovation, positioning itself as a leader in agricultural development and sustainability in Nigeria and beyond.
