CEFTER CELEBRATES ALABAR’S APPOINTMENT AS MOAUM’S 7TH VC …..SIGNALS ERA OF GROWTH

The Centre for Food Technology and Research (CEFTER), Rev. Fr. Moses Orshio Adasu University, Makurdi has lauded the appointment of Prof. Timothy Alabar as the institution’s 7th substantive Vice Chancellor, describing it as a significant milestone that heralded a new phase of progress and institutional advancement.

This was contained in a congratulatory message by the Acting Director of the Centre, Prof Ogbene Igbum to Prof. Alabar on his emergence as the Vice Chancellor of the University revealed that his emergence reflected decades of dedication, leadership and deep institutional knowledge built over time through his academic journey at the university which dated as far back to 1998 when he joined the then Benue State University, now MOAUM, in the Department of Management Science.

“Over the years, Prof. Alabar has held several strategic positions, including Head of Department, Dean of Faculty, Director and Dean of the Postgraduate School.  He has demonstrated his administrative competence and preparedness for the top role,” she revealed.

Prof Alabar’s appointment according to the CEFTER Acting Director  followed what has been described as a rigorous and competitive selection process conducted by the University Governing Council, chaired by Sir Paul Chukuma in which the Council found him the most qualified candidate among several contenders.

The Ag. Director disclosed that Prof Alabar’s appointment was subsequently approved by the Visitor to the University and Executive Governor of Benue State, Rev. Fr Hyacinth Iormen Alia.

She revealed that Prof. Alabar’s emergence has been met with widespread jubilation across the university community which reflected strong confidence in his leadership and a collective readiness among staff and stakeholders to support his administration.

Prof Igbum described the development as “a new dawn of progress initiated by the government,” pledged the Centre’s commitment to aligning its research, innovation and capacity-building initiatives with the broader vision of the university under the new Vice Chancellor.

 

The Centre boss expressed optimism that the new administration would strengthen institutional growth, enhance academic excellence and boost impactful partnerships that would position the university for greater national and global relevance.
