Dr. Hyacinth  Iormem Alia who went on a working visit to commission the fully furnished Food Research Laboratory in company of the Newly installed Chancellor of Benue State, HRH Najib Hussaini Adamu, Emir of Kazaure, Jigawa State, the Pro-Chancellor, Sir Paul Chukwuma and the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Tor Joe Iorapuu.

Gladly, the Governor handed over a brand new premium LEICA ophthalmic microscope to Benue State University Teaching Hospital (BSUTH) which was donated by CEFTER.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Tor Iorapuu, while appreciating the equipment stressed the fact that, the University is determined to upgrade medical trainings and practices that would leave no stone unturned to enhance the capacity of its Teaching hospital.

Presenting the equipment, the CEFTER Director, Prof. Barnabas Achakpa Ikyo  said, the cutting-edge equipment is valued about a hundred (100) million Naira which was secured by the Centre for Food Technology and Research (CEFTER), Benue State University, through a grant from the SEEDINGS Lab, USA.

Prof. Ikyo further stressed that, the LEICA F40 Ophthalmic Microscope belongs to the premium class of ophthalmic surgical microscopes which provides an optimal solution for advanced posterior and anterior segment surgery. The equipment combines OptiChrome optics and direct halogen illumination for crisp, bright, true-color images and has double wing assistant bridge, and HD recording making it ideal for teaching institutes and university hospitals.

Recieving the equipment, the CMD, Dr. Terungwa Stephen Hwande said the LEICA ophthalmic microscope is a significant addition to the BSUTH that will help enhance the hospital's capacity to provide high-quality healthcare services, particularly in the area of ophthalmology. This equipment will also facilitate advanced research and training programs, benefiting both medical professionals and students of the hospital.
