CEFTER BASIC FOOD HYGIENE AND SAFETY WORKSHOP

Center for Food Technology and Research, Benue State University, Makurdi, launched its initial short course programme for food vendors and handlers with the inauguration of “Basic Food Hygiene and Safety” workshop on Monday 9th November 2015 at the college of health sciences auditorium, Benue State University, Makurdi. Inaugurating the workshop was CEFTER ambassador, The First Lady of Benue state, Chief (Mrs.) Eunice Ortom. The one-week course had more than 100 participants drawn from all the local government areas of the state. The research and training focused on:

  1. 1. Food technology, packaging and marketing
  2. 2. Solar drying
  3. 3. Chemical preservation of food
  4. 4. Transport and storage of food
  5. 5. Basic food handling procedures
  6. 6. Food hygiene practices
